Second Grade News
Mrs. Gallis’ Class

Introduction
    March is here already and I hope it brings some warmer spring weather with it.  We have a couple of things this month to celebrate Dr. Seuss books.  On Tuesday, March 2nd, we will have a day to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  The students can wear pajamas to school and bring a pillow and blanket if they want for the afternoon read-a-thon.  In the morning students from Cedar Middle School will be coming here to present a Dr. Seuss play.
    On Friday, March 26th, we will attend the play “Seussical the Musical” at SUU.

Math
We have been measuring line segments to the nearest ½ inch.  We have expanded our reading of the clock to include all of the 5-minute intervals.  We have begun to learn how to subtract with regrouping.  We also continue to practice adding three numbers, adding with regrouping, reading charts, counting money, place value to the hundreds place, and more.

Reading and Writing
We are beginning to read more chapter books as we continue to study vocabulary, phonics, and comprehension.
We are writing and illustrating a hidden treasure story.

Science
Our weather unit continues with the learning of information about clouds, rain, snow, the water cycle, and the sun.
